Small yards are not scaled-down large yards — they are obstacle courses. Beds, trees, paths and furniture mean the limiting factor is how tightly the mower turns, not how much ground it covers per pass, and this is where a 16-inch deck stops being a compromise and starts being the point.
At around 41 pounds it is the lightest mower we recommend, which matters twice: once every time you pivot it around a shrub, and again every time you stand it in a corner of the garage. The included 4.0Ah pack is rated at up to 40 minutes, comfortably more cutting than a quarter-acre lot asks for.
The real limitation is the height range. A 2-3/4 inch maximum is below where most turf grasses are happiest, and cutting short is the usual route to a thin, weedy lawn. If you keep your grass long by preference, the EGO decks below reach 4 inches and are the better match; if you cut short anyway, this is the easiest mower here to live with.
