The strongest argument for this mower has nothing to do with the mower. Ryobi's 40V platform runs one of the broadest ranges of homeowner outdoor tools on a single battery, so if you already own a Ryobi trimmer or blower, buying into a second platform for the mower is money spent on redundant packs.
On its own merits it is a solid middle option: a brushless motor, a 20-inch deck, a 6.0Ah pack rated at up to 45 minutes, seven-position height adjustment and full 3-in-1 discharge options. Ryobi rates it for lots up to half an acre.
It sits between our other picks rather than beating either. The Greenworks is more nimble and lighter for a small lot; the EGO has more runtime, a higher cutting ceiling and a longer warranty. Choose this one when platform compatibility, not deck width, is the deciding factor.
